We were in Chamrousse last week for a fantastic sun filled week of skiing. We discovered this gem of a restaurant on the first day of our holiday and returned there every day. Although the slopes weren't that busy, the restaurant was! So try and time your lunch break around the crowds - either an early lunch, or enjoy the slopes for a bit longer and have a late lunch. There are pizzas, croquet Monsieur, hot dogs, burgers and the specials - tartiflette (a-maz-ing!) , lasagne, beef stew, and more. An amazing restaurant that is family run. George and Catherine, the owners make you so welcome and their family who help run the place are delightful. Thibaut is part of the younger generation family along with the young ladies run a very efficient place. On the food front, everything is fresh and made for the day. The portions are generous and food is very tasty. Even my kids who are normally fussy, love the food here. The cost is definitely reasonable, in fact cheap compared to any other ski resort I have been to. C'était notre restaurant de choix pour le déjeuner pendant nos vacances de ski à Chamrousse. Le personnel est vraiment sympa et accommodant. Lorsque c'est vraiment occupé (ce qui était presque tout le temps en raison de conditions météorologiques défavorables), ils essaient de s'assurer qu'ils peuvent vous trouver une place au chaud. Quand le soleil est dehors, il y a plein de tables à l'extérieur et c'est un vrai piège à soleil. Leur Vin Chaud et leur Chocolat Chaud avec de la crème doivent être parmi les meilleurs de la ville. Et leur tartiflette est à tomber par terre! Les prix ici sont assez bons par rapport aux établissements voisins, alors assurez-vous d'y faire un tour!

Je suis seulement venu ici pour une gaufre rapide et un chocolat chaud donc je ne peux pas vraiment commenter la nourriture chaude à La Taverne du Gaulois mais ce que j'ai eu était très bon. La gaufre était croustillante avec beaucoup de nutella et le chocolat chaud était riche et crémeux (pas du tout aqueux comme certains peuvent l'être) avec beaucoup de chantilly. Bien que ce soit en libre-service (donc un peu ennuyeux de devoir marcher en bottes de ski), c'était rapide et la nourriture était bonne donc je le recommanderais à tout ceux cherchant une collation sur les pistes. Ce serait mon restaurant de choix pour un goûter à Chamrousse 1750.
We booked this place in advance before heading out to Chamrousse. Pleased we did as it was fully booked. Wonderful service. Felt like a family run place where everyone greeted you with a smile and were so welcoming. The food was typical of what you expect from a French ski resort. The steaks were very well cooked and cheese fondue and beef fondue were delicious. Would absolutely recommend.
This is a great spot to get lunch after a busy morning skiing. The service is good and the food is fine. There is quite a queue at busy times and it can be difficult getting a table if there is a big group, however, the staff are very accommodating!
Grand choix de plats locaux et bon chocolat chaud. Les lasagnes étaient particulièrement bonnes (c'était un plat du jour donc pas régulièrement au menu) à un prix raisonnable également.

Great service, very friendly staff. Good choice of dish of the day great place to go for a drink or bite to eat straight off the slopes. Cheapest pint in town!
C'était un excellent moment. Nous recommandons la "fondue savoyarde du gaulois". Le serveur était vraiment gentil, serviable et il parle anglais.
