We stayed for a week in Argens Minervois recently and most lunch times and afternoons were spent sitting in this oasis. Family run, this is an enchanting bar/restaurant on the Canal du Midi Port at Argens Minervois. It’s lovely to sit in the sun and watch the boats coming and going. Ideal for al fresco dining, but there is also a covered area for when the weather is inclement. There is an à la carte menu and they also serve a 3-course "menu du jour" for €13.50 (or you can have a 2-course for a little less), which we had most days. We ate here twice, lunch for 3 and then dinner for 6. For lunch, although the salad portion was large, the pasta dishes were not, and the service extremely slow. A week later we were obliged to have dinner here when the far larger restaurant up the road could not accommodate us during several hours torrential thunderstorm (although they appeared to be empty). We were grateful to La Terrasse therefore. The service was more efficient and the food fine, although sitting in near darkness under a split bamboo roof which drips is not my idea of fun. Trois d'entre nous sommes allés déjeuner par une journée caniculaire et avons choisi cet endroit car il était près de l'eau. Les steaks étaient de grande qualité et cuits à la perfection et le rosé était très agréable à 5 euros la carafe - alors que demander de plus? Le menu du jour est intéressant et très raisonnable et les tables étaient principalement occupées par des travailleurs français locaux, ce qui est toujours bon signe. Without doubt the frendliest restaurant on the canal du midi. The welcome and service that we experienced here was just wonderful, there are many so called better restaurants in france that could really learn something about customer service from the 2 ladies who run La Terrasse.The restaurant itself is very basic but dont let this put you off. The food is local and well prepared and the harbour side location means you can watch boaters making all kind of mistakes as you eat. And all at reasonable pricing. Réservez une table maintenant
Nous cherchions un endroit pour déjeuner alors que nous naviguions sur le canal et avons décidé d'essayer cet endroit et nous sommes très heureux de l'avoir fait. Il y avait l'une des meilleures salades de fruits de mer que j'ai jamais mangées, et tous les autres avec qui j'étais ont également adoré leurs repas. Le service est également fantastique. Très sympathique et au bon rythme. C'était une journée très chaude et ils gardaient l'eau froide et remplie. Ça vaut vraiment le coup de s'arrêter !
This restaurant is in the marina, a footstep away from the boats, so after a long day it is quite tempting to sit down here. The place was very pleasant during a cool and windy evening in April and the owner lit the gas burner right next to our table, which was nice.As for the food, the salads were fresh and nicely seasoned. For mains we had Paella and Cassoulet. Although the Paella was full of seafood, we didn't find it any more than average. The Cassoulet was just bland.
