We visited this small, friendly restaurant whilst on holiday in the area. They are open most days for lunch and in the evenings at weekend. The lunch menu is a well thought out plat du jour with a limited choice but the food, which is prepared and served by the Italian owners, is amazing. We had a superb courgette soup for starters, followed by a lovely pesto and tomato pasta dish topped with breadcrumbs and a delicious apricot tart for dessert served with vanilla cream. The owner speaks good English and was very knowledgeable and informative about the food. These people are clearly passionate about their food which is lovingly prepared in a very typical simple Italian style with fantastic flavours coming from fresh ingredients.
En Charente-Périgord, 'restaurant italien" rime la plupart du temps avec "pizzeria". Pour ceux qui veulent autre chose et recherchent une cuisine italienne authentique, gouteuse et ancrée dans un terroir, La Trattoria s'impose. On y mange comme là-bas à la maison, des plats souvent simples mais délicieux, faits dans l'art de la transmission culinaire des grands-mères à leurs petites-filles. Superbe.La qualité se méritant, la salle de ce restaurant est minuscule (heureusement qu'il y a une terrasse en été). Et les propriétaires n'ouvrent pas tous les jours. Il faut donc vraiment vréserver pour accéder à ce petit morceau d'Italie profonde.
Unusual to find such a restaurant in a small village but this Italian only establishment aims to please. It is small, probably 16 covers, but well serviced by the helpful Maitre'D who is kept busy. There is a limited choice, all Italian, with 3 starters, 3 mains and 2 puddings to choice from. The wine is also all Italian and limited to 3 of each.I am not an Italian foodie so cannot comment on the authenticity of the food and wine but it tasted good and was well served with decent china and cutlery.Well worth a visit, but book, if you want an Italian only experience in rural SW France.
Juste parfait ! Un savant mélange de cuisine italienne avec des produits frais et une chef inspirée - un service au top et voilà le cocktail d'un restaurant à ne surtout pas manquer de passage dans la région. Bravo une vrai réussite avec de la simplicité et un prix plus que raisonnable !
