I am really surprised by the lower scores for this restaurant. Traveling abroad I tend to try Thai restaurants wherever I go and this was my second attempt in Cologne. It was much better than the first place I went which, interestingly enough, was ranked...significantly higher as a place to eat. Lai Thai had excellent food and service. From the appetizers, to the main course, to the drinks.... everything was extremely good. We started with the shared appetizers which were all great, especially the fried spring rolls. (The sauce was very gelatin-like but was very tasty). I had a Thai soup and spicy salad which were perfect. My colleague had the crispy duck which I tried and it was as good as...
Ate twice here during lunch since it's near my office location. Ambience is nice cozy. Lunch is standard Buffet with probably selection (with rice or noodle) to choose from and cost EUR with a drink inclusive. You will find mostly chicken cook...in various method, beef as well as fried items. Don't expect complete authentic Thai food during lunch buffet. Was disappointed that the dishes are same for both days when visited. Will be nice to have few dishes swap alternate days. Not try on dinner menu so no comment. Overall food is not bad for an Asian Cooking Style restaurant.
Sowohl die Vorspeisen (z.B. knusprige Frühlingsrollen, frittierte WanTan) als auch die Hauptgerichte (knusprige Ente mit Cashew, Rindfleisch in grünem Curry) sind lecker, optisch ansprechend und ausreichend dimensioniert. Das Personal ist jederzeit erreichbar und sehr freundlich. Auch die Gestaltung des Restaurants ist gefällig. Alles zusammen erzeugt ein angenehmes Gefühl, auch wenn die "echte" Thaiküche hier vielleicht nicht zu finden ist. Wir würden jederzeit wieder hierher kommen.
Early evening dinner after a long bike journey. And across the street the Japanese sushi restaurant was quite busy. No way I was going to wait!! This place, not so much. Quite empty from what I could see, which is not a good indicator. Took...a chance and to be honest was quite good. Started with spring rolls and then Pad Thai. Tasty and just filling enough. Service was okay, would recommend this place if you have time to spare.

Looking for a restaurant for dinner we came across Lai Thai 2. The service was very friendly. The appetizers and the main dish were very delicious. Freshly prepared with crisp vegetables. Very delicious and all this very fast after the order. The service was also very attentive. The price is also completely ok! All in all very satisfied and should I return to Cologne, I would like to return here again.
It was rather late when we entered the restaurant. We ordered several starters and one main dish and asked to get all dishes at once. We enjoyed the dinner very much. Diversive flavors, fresh ingredients and friendly service. The picture is from the medium spicy...sweet sour shrimps.
Wir waren in einer Gruppe dort. Von der Bestellung bis zum Auftragen der Gerichte hat es ca. 1,5 Stunden gedauert. Und als die letzten Ihr Essen bekommen haben, waren die ersten schon fertig.Das Essen selbst war leider nur durchschnittlich, nichts besonderes.
Thought we would give it a try as close to our hotel and it being our last night in Cologne i must say I wish we hadn't as the food was horrible and the restaurant not the cleanest it wasn't expensive but I would have...hoped for a lot better.

The food was good and the staff was helpful in suggesting the menu as per our food choice. The ambiance was also good, good option to dine in with groups as well.
We went two days in a row and I never troed so good thai food outside thailand! Friendly service, authentic decoration and amazing fresh food!
