A Friday evening table for and all was waiting for us when we got there. There were few others there but that changed and it was close to full later on. First things first; don't agree to take one of their round tables...if you are a party of tables are for and of us sat (a long time, more later) with a table leg between our legs. Blah! Appetizers of soup and salads were very nice and the mains came soon after. The baked sweet potato dish was too oily. The place does better with meats than vegetable dishes. A few months ago we were there with friends to check out if this was a good place to celebrate over the christmas period. It was supposed to be their Duck period so that is what we were expecting to eat. Unfortunately the Duck was...finished and we opted for goose. I would say it was less than average and we should have probablt looked elsewhere for the Christmas bash. As it was we decided to go ahead and we asked if there was a set menu or a la carte during the christmas period, we were assured both were possible. The place is in the outskirts of Wiesbaden basically in the middle of nowhere. After a little shock due to the relatively conservative atmosphere, the menu offered a couple of positive surprises. The tuna tataki with avocado, was delicious and the dessert sampler with apple/sorrel sorbet,...cream brûlée and sweet dumpling were a really perfect ending for an excellent dinner. The server, although super friendly and trying to accommodate our needs, was a little lost. I summer, you can sit outside and enjoy the great views of the vineyards around. Overall, worth the drive...I will be back in summer.
We had a business diner in this restaurant with a group of decoration is a bit old-fashioned bu it fits to the overall style of the building. Acoustic was good so you could follow the conversation at the table even when people were talking...that were sitting more remotely from your place ar the table. Food was excellent, wine selection great. Service was some what slow, so we had to wait more than min before we got the menue and only after we requested it . Definitely a good choice for balmy evenings; eating outside under the trees is a delight. The interior's a bit formal, heavy and old-fashioned, but no doubt welcoming on a winter's night (we've eaten here only in summer and autumn). Cooking is exact and uses only...local products asparagus and wild mushrooms are particularly good in season and the wine list, though restricted, is well chosen. Charming and efficient service, and fair value for this level of dining (around euros a head).
I was guest for a business lunch at Landhaus Diedert, the setting is extremely nice, in a historic building just outside Wiesbaden. The main dining room is very elegant, all is well taken care of. The menu is varied, but mostly with a german footprint....I had a mixed salad and the salmon cooked with herbs in a plastic bag, it was tasty without being greasy. Service was attentive and fast. Cannot comment on price since I was a guest.
Very good and tasty. Cosy atmosphere and good service. Good Price/quality ratio. Very tender and crusty Goose with red cabbage, Apple and dumplings. Highly recommended! Tender and crusty duck, however the choice of sides was a bit too unusual. We would have preferred red cabbage...and dumplings over pointed cabbage. The deserts was very good (almond sufflé French brioche). We will definitely come back.
We dined outdoors as the weather was great and totally surprised by the quality of the service and the food. Well presented, really tasy with super friendly staff. Nice selection of wines available and the evening of dining turned out to be a very long...sitdown with friend to late enjoying the atmosphere. We loved the relaxed atmosphere in the open.
