It was my 29th Birthday and my husband wanted to take me somewhere we have never been before. He decided on landry's even though it was more expensive than what we would normally be comfortable with. The half dozen oysters that I ordered in hopes to continue the lover affair that I started with them last week at another place was a total failure. They tasted realllllllly odd. They made me gag. Landry's is one of those places that I forget about since I'm rarely on this side of town for dinner. Usually, they serve really good seafood and tonight we came to try the AYCE crab legs. Of course by the time I ordered, I no longer felt like i could handle the feast so I decided on an appetizer of oyster bar trash to start. For the past month or so, Wednesday nights have been guys night out. My buddies and I dined at Landry's this week. The white table clothes and very dim lighting was definitely outside of our typical grab-a-bite outing. The setting is geared more to dining with the wife, but we did appreciate the calming and eloquent atmosphere. We were seated promptly and service was on point. If you 're looking for some delicious seafood prepared well...Landry 's is a place you should try. Granted...they are a chain but they make you feel like the meal they are preparing for you is special. I ordered the Redfish grilled and noticed the additional toppings you could add to the dish. I met a friend a Landry's yesterday for happy hour. Landry's has awesome happy hour food and drink specials. I have been several times. We ordered a couple of glasses of red wine and a couple of appetizers. Our waiter was an older gentleman who seemed to be having a hard time getting around but he was very nice and attentive. It took a long time to get our first glass of wine but my friend and I were engaged in conversation so it wasn't a big deal. Our appetizers included fried calamari and stuffed crab balls. Where flavor was lacking, the customer service pulled through. This was my first time coming to this restaurant as my daughter and I stopped through Birmingham during a brief trip. The restaurant has a boathouse feel to it and enjoyable music. The waiter service was great, as we were tended to thoroughly. However, the food lacked flavor in my opinion. The salad and steamed broccoli were decent, but the stuffed shrimp were over-filled with dressing/filler which took away from the shrimp flavor. Stopped in Birmingham while on a road trip. Landry's was right across the street from our hotel. It was early evening on a Friday. We were seated and noticed only one other diner, but lots of staff. We waited a long time before the hubs got the managers attention to let him know we hadn't been waited on. We are pretty patient, so no real big deal. Gumbo, wedge salad for hubs; broiled flounder, broccoli and salad for me. All was pretty good except the flounder, which was breaded(? . I was hungry so I just peeled the breading off. Not very good. I also ordered a glass of wine, which turns out was $10. Outrageous. Bottom line- high priced, just ok food.

This place is far from what it used to be. I remember back in the late 90's early 00's this was the place for fine dining; not any more. The service was poor and management sucks. I ordered the grilled seafood platter it was a big disappointment. The fish was overly salted and cold. The entire dish was cold . I was so hungry this Friday evening after work; I sucked it up and ate what I could. My cousins dish was exceptional and i was able to sop some of hers : sad for sure. on the other had the drink was the bomb kinda weak but ok).
