I recently purchased 3 frozen lobster tails from Lapointe seafood in Bell Corners and cooked them that evening and when they were done the tail was full of white liquid that just poured out and that’s all that was in the shell, slimy white liquid. I called the manager the next day and he offered a refund and when I went back for the refund I told the manager I should have taken a picture of the rotten lobster to show him. Shockingly he told me that was not necessary because he was aware that there were other rotten lobster tails in that box before he sold me those and he suspected the lobsters were dead for sometime before they were shipped to him resulting in spoiled lobsters. On the recommendation of other people with celiac disease, we decided to try LaPointe for fish and chips. It was delicious! Our server, Alana, was awesome. I explained I have Celiac Disease and without having to explain what it was or what my restrictions were, she immediately knew what I was talking about which completely set me at ease. She explained that almost everything on the menu could be made gluten-free. She made a note of my disease and indicated that she would let the kitchen know as well to be safe. I was at this location recently and was disappointed and somewhat frustrated. I ordered moule et frites (mussels and fries). In Europe they automatically come with mayonaise. Not here! You pay extra for the mayonaise. Now they don't charge you extra for vinegar, brown or white, nor mustard and not for ketchup but mayonnaise is extra. Why?? Who knows! I don't appreciate being nickle and dimed as it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The waitress was pleasant and has the unfortunate job of, I would think, hearing the grumbles of unhappy customers. It is unfortunate as he/she has no control over what costs the customer is slapped with.
The sushi at Lapointe easily rivals the best in the city, with two fantastically talented Japanese chefs preparing Sushi. When I picked up my take out order I immediately remarked that it looked like a work of art! The quality of the fish and the presentation is world class, highly recommended! First time ordering out there and it was a real treat. The special exceeded any expectations we had and the price was very reasonable. We still have enough left over for one dinner tonight including dessert. Tasty, well prepared, friendly staff at the desk for our take out order.
