I can't remember when I last gave 5 stars for a restaurant even if it had a Michelin star which this doesn't. Hard to know where to begin. Warm welcome just the start...seated outside in the charming terrace (due to Covid restrictions). Being a Sunday there was a set menu for 27.50 and given the fare it was excellent value. An amuse bouche to start, choice of 2 entrees, 2 mains followed by cheese course and dessert. The chef and owner both were very friendly and helpful, the chef checking regularly with each table to ensure everyone was content. Service was prompt, courteous and pleasant throughout. Our party of four all chose the home made fois gras, with toast and fig jam, all chose the beef cooked perfectly to order and perfectly tender, nice vegetable medley. A cheese platter to share and the cafe gourmand was outstanding. A small but very adequate wine list was reasonably priced also. You won't go wrong here, and you'd be hard pressed to find better ....no fuss, no pretense just excellent food, well prepared and served by two very capable professionals. Merci Bien!
We were staying on the outskirts of Reims, it was very wet and cold and we were looking for somewhere to eat. Looked on Trip Advisor, and only 3 km away was L'Aqua. How appropriate! What a gem of a place to find. As others have said do not under any circumstances be put off by the utilitarian exterior because beneath lies a heart of good service and very good food. The maitre D is very welcoming and will give recomendations for wine and food but he speaks no English but then again why should he. The menu du jour is very good. Started with the Foie gras and moved on to beef cooked exactly as I had asked. The chef came out and made sure everything was OK. The amount of care taken over service and food was examplary.
Little gem in an otherwise unattractive part of Reims. Super friendly small restaurant run by one guy in charge of the main course food and one in charge of the desserts, both delicious. Not cheap at €27 for a set menu but not exorbitantly either and great value for the quality you get. The only decent address in walking distance from the nearby Ibis and Novotel Tinqueux.
We were 3 adults and 1 child. The 4 of us loved it! The food was amazingly tasteful from starters to dessert. The restaurant is a pleasant environment and both Chefs were wonderful and really nice people. We had a great time there and strongly recommend L'aqua if you appreciate great food. To both Chefs, we wish all the best!
