We chose L'arbre vert because it had the best reviews in Dambach la Ville where we were staying. The bistro had a nice atmosphere and the service was good, given that only one person served the entire restaurant which had about 7 8 tables of people on a friday evening. The food was good, but could have been great. We ordered the faux filet with wine sauce and the veal escalope which was served with a mushroom sauce. The portion sizes were generous and the sauces excellent. The let down was the rump steak which was served too rare given the quality of the cut of beef (and my husband likes his steak rare). The dessert menu tempted us with a chocolate fondant (special of the day) and the tarte...
tried this family run restaurant while staying in Dambach La Ville. The steak with red wine source was just delicious and I finsihed a dozen of escargot which was very fresh.the pinot noir red wine was from the wineyard in the same town. It's nice to try the wine chilled.I didn't try the local Alsacian specialties called tarte flambee (looks like a thin pizza!!). They smells goodyou are going to miss something in the visit to this town if you don't try the restaurant
Ce restaurant a une ambiance moderne malgré le fait qu'il soit situé dans un vieux bâtiment. Le menu est composé de plats locaux, notamment des pizzas spéciales basées sur la spécialité locale de la tarte flambée. La nourriture était vraiment délicieuse et cuite exactement comme nous l'avions demandé (cuisson bleue), accompagnée d'une belle sélection de légumes frais, etc. Le service était bon et amical même si notre français était un peu rouillé. Recommandé.
Six of us had a long and happy night of eating great food and drinking enjoyable wine at A L'Arbre Vert. We enjoyed the food so much we just had to take pictures of it... The service was fabulous. We were very well taken care of in every way. It was a surreal experience walking down the streets of this lovely medieval town on our way back to our rooms at Hotel Le Vignoble. with the restaurant being full and only one lady waiting on tables it was not surprising that the service was slow, but the atmosphere was pleasant with a mix of visitors and locals. We both chose salads as main courses and were well satisfied with the quality and quantity. A desert and cheese plate followed. With two drinks the bill came to 40 euro which we thought was good value.
Well, I know foie gras can be a controversial subject, but ever since I tried my first taste in Strasbourg years back, I have been dreaming about it ever since. Finally found it here on my recent trip to Alsace, the warm and wonderful variety, and paired with a beautiful riesling, it is surely manna from heaven. Well done, Arbre Vert-you made this American very happy indeed.
Ma femme et moi avons déjeuné ici après une randonnée jusqu'au château de Bernstein, et la nourriture était fantastique. Je pense que c'était le meilleur veau que j'ai jamais mangé. Les escargots étaient également délicieux, et le vin local était de première qualité.
