For anyone who loves ice cream, the journey to L 'Art Glacier, near Ansouis in Provence is a must. Though not easy to find, the setting of this ice cream heaven is on a hill with spectacular views of the Luberon valley below. And, once found and settled, there is the ice cream, some 50 different flavours to be enjoyed with baby meringue and, if wished, Chantilly cream. There is also a variety of ice cream, fruit and nut creations. Cartons of all the flavours are available for purchase from the 'caisse ' to take home. Beware, however, this heaven is very popular, so try to avoid tea times on Sundays and festivals. But, even if you have to queue, the wait will be well worth it.
Went here this evening nice visit much busier than we anticipated for half eight in the evening and up a hill, in the middle of no where! Choice of ice creams parfums is vast it’s more of a choose a type of ice cream creation than pick your own ice cream. Lots of chantilly cream and chopped fruit and meringue pad out the desert. We shared one at about £11 and that was enough. Views are good from top of the hill and they provide a jug of water before you order which I thought was a nice touch. Nice place to kill sometime but quite expensive for what you get...
OK, it's a bit pricey and out of the way. But unlike a couple of reviewers, we had very good service. But best of all, the number of interesting flavors (no, not flavors like bubble gum pretzel, but flower flavors, spice flavors, and others you'll not see elsewhere), the quality of the ice cream, the great view, the very pleasant terrace and dining room, and the beautiful concoctions all equal a WOW.
After hearing about this magical ice cream shop with views of the Luberon I was finally able to come with my family. The place and view is incredible, the waiters are super friendly and the ice cream is glorious. It should be an obligatory stop for everyone in the Luberon region.
