I am convinced that the restaurant must have written their own reviews to achieve a rating of 3.9. Today, I took my daughter and her friend, who are college students, out to eat. I wanted to give them a break from the food at their school cafe. When we arrived, the hostess was friendly, but the service went downhill from there. One of my kids ordered a chimichanga without cheese sauce, but it arrived covered in cheese. He also asked the waitress specifically for red enchilada sauce, but she brought out a plate covered in what looked like thick brown gravy. Despite trying to eat it, it was not what he wanted. I quite enjoyed my experience at Las Fuentes, the enchiladas that I had had a wonderfully spiced sauce, tender fajita beef, and truly delicious rice and beans. Although a bit greasy from the loads of cheese, I truly enjoyed it. And man that fresh salsa was spectacular! Service was rough at first, however a gentleman (who I assumed was the owner) stepped in to assist the waitress as she ran all over the restaurant with minimal assistance. The atmosphere would have been a 5 except the live music that was playing that day was too loud. I throughly enjoy a good cover band, however top volume isn't what you expect in an indoor venue. Too expensive. Even lunch specials were $12.00 after taxes. Portion was not impressive. Place looked a little dirty everywhere I looked and it smells like beer. Young waiter was nice but due to food quality, somewhat dirty kitchen area and bathrooms, and higher prices , we won t return. Maybe they do good at night with the bar crowd, so maybe that's how they make it. We love Mexican food and dine Mexican at least three times a week. There are other better places around.
I have ate at 3 of the Las Fuentes resteraunts, the 1 in Hempstead being my favorite. I had to take a very good friend, Russell Hantz the ultimate villain off Survivor to lunch. I wanted a place with professional but friendly service where the drinks are good, food is great and atmosphere is excellent. Las Fuentes is the place for great authenic mexican food and marvelous margaritas!

The food and service were good, the place was filthy!! Toilets were disgusting, counter top was thick with months of grime and there was no hot water to wash my hands. Chances are good that the employees are washing their hands in cold water too. Bacteria much! The walls and floor were nasty...how have they passed inspections for cleanliness!?!
Oh no! The enchiladas at this restaurant were extremely salty and the beef was tough like gravel. The sauce tasted like ketchup and the place was not very clean. It was also overpriced. Save yourself some money and time by going to the taco bus across the street. They have better food, it's much cleaner, and the staff is friendlier.
Service was great, people were super nice, atmosphere was comfortable and seating was spaced decently but the food was not great. Salsa tasted like spaghetti-o's, chips for the nachos were extremely stale but my son did like the chicken quesadillas.
Food and service were good, Ceviche tostadas were very tasty with lots of fish. Red salsa was hot (temperature) and spicy! It was also entertaining when we were there because apparently Saturday is karaoke night!

This has got to be the worst Mexican food I have ever had in my life. I'm sorry but it was just horrible. Absolutely no flavor and I'm not a fan of steam table boiled taco meat and canned queso sauce.
