I had the pleasure of dining at l'Atelier on Friday night, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! Although it has received a Michelin review only once in Las Vegas, it's clear that they continue to offer cuisine worthy of a star. Diners can choose from a seasonal tasting menu with around 10 courses, a 4-course tasting menu where you pick your selections, or a regular à la carte menu. We attempted to dine in this restaurant is a group of eight. When I reached out to MGM, I was told to make two reservations of four and then call the restaurant to combine the tables. It took several days of phone calls to find out that the restaurant was closed for most of July. When they finally opened, I was advised that I were to email Group reservations, which I did. After not hearing back for about another week, I reached out again, and at that point, I was told that the only way to combine our tables were to have a prefix menu’, a contract and a minimum spend. If I could give more stars, I absolutely would! This was one of the finest, most expertly crafted meals I've had in a long time. We started with bread accompanied by a palate-awakening tomato gelée and avocado mousse. Next came the salmon carpaccio with a delightful citrus sauce, followed by an onion tart. For the main course, I enjoyed the gnocchi, and we ended with a delightful selection of pies for dessert. The waitstaff was exceptional. Sitting at the bar, I had a great view of the open kitchen, which allowed me to witness the chefs' passion firsthand. Joel Robuchon would surely be proud to see his legacy upheld. I spent $800 for two people, including tax and tip, which is the most I’ve ever spent on a meal. We chose the tasting menu with wine pairings. Given the high cost, I expected near perfection—flavors so extraordinary they would make me gasp and sigh with delight over each dish. While the food was good, it didn’t rise to the level of the best I’ve had and certainly didn’t justify the steep price. A more reasonable price would be around $350 at most. You can check out the tasting menu, which consists of five dishes and a cocktail for $180 per person. Each time a dish is served, the staff explains the ingredients and recipes, making it easy to follow along. While the food is not necessarily 60-70% of the experience, the cooking process itself is quite enjoyable to watch. On Google Maps, you'll find photos and reviews mentioning Joel Robuchon and Hondong, which are different from this restaurant. The interior features a striking black and red design with dim lighting.
This was one of the most remarkable dining experiences we've ever enjoyed. Every dish was not only beautifully presented but also overflowing with perfectly balanced flavors! We thoroughly enjoyed sitting at the kitchen counter, observing the skilled chefs at work. The service was outstanding. We will definitely be returning during our next trip to Vegas!
