On a trip to Chantilly to see the beautiful Chateau its art and surroundings we took a workshop on making the renowned delicacy Crème de Chantilly at the charming Atelier de la Chantilly in the center of the village. It was fantastic- taught by a master of this delight, Bertrand, the hour was laced with stories and explanations of the history of it the area told by someone who clearly loves his home. It was a great hands on way to experience a slice of history. If making Crème is not your thing, do stop at the lovely tea room itself to taste this wonder in all its complexities. But be prepared: it will ruin you for whipped cream for life.
Very friendly service. Very interesting as you watch them build your cream chantilly pastries. Hard to resist getting one of each. Cream Chantilly is very light, with minimal amount of sugar and each pastry created is absolutely delicious! Not cheap but well worth stopping to buy a few. We took them to take home one hour in the car and then in the refrigerator no problem and all absolutely fresh and delicious.
