The Creppy family are departed a while now, and the staff such as Henri that stayed on are long gone, they set unbelievably high standards which were always going to be hard to meet. We loved the room we stayed in, but the rest of the experience was a bit awkward. I feel sorry for them as it was super hot and it must be difficult to get staff at the moment, but when you have paid £500 for one night and food inc wine then things can be a bit disappointing. Having previously enjoyed a fantastic meal at Maison Bleue in Bury St. Edmunds, I was thrilled to discover that its sister restaurant, The Great House, was located in this picturesque village. I took my partner here to celebrate her 35th birthday, and we had a fantastic experience! The food was excellent and quite intriguing in some instances. One standout dish featured leeks, nettles, and sour cream served alongside a consommé, which was delightful and unlike anything we had tried before (it replaced a tuna dish since we're not fans of fish). The chickpea mousse and aquafaba meringue amuse-bouche was trendy and delicious. Both the duck and venison dishes were unforgettable. The guest house is deserving of a Michelin star. The food quality and service were amazing. We had the lunch set and everything was perfect from the starter to the dessert. I usually don't like desserts, but here it was creative and tasty. As Londoners, we believe it is one of the best restaurants we have tried in Britain.

The food was excellent, and the bed was very comfortable. Overall, I would rate the rooms a 4, the service a 5, and the location a 5.
