"Had a lovely festive afternoon tea on Saturday. The quality of the food was excellent and the staff were friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. We have done this for the last few years to get into the festive spirit and we weren’t disappointed!"

I booked in for Sunday lunch with my dad but nearly cancelled when I read some of the most recent reviews. But I needn't have worried everything was really good in terms of food, service, and atmosphere. We had scallops to start and they were perfectly cooked in a delicious garlic sauce. Then we had chicken liver parfait which was incredible so smooth and rich and perfectly complemented by the brambles and sauce. I then had sea bream and my dad had mushroom risotto. Both very tasty although if I had one complaint I'd say the risotto was a tiny bit salty. The mushrooms (hen of the woods and chanterelle) were delicious. I then had lemon choux which was a lovely flavour bomb very sweet and sour...

I have dined here in the past and the standard of food was high. My review is intended to provide constructive feedback. I appreciate this is such a difficult time for everyone in this industry. The Lawns has great potential but needs to find its identity. The room is lovely and grand. The staff are enthusiastic, friendly, down to Earth. The menu reads well. I feel the prices are fair and competitive. Sadly, the food, for the most part, was poorly executed. My salmon (overcooked) with noodles (over salted) no pak choi or spinach (as suggested on t...

razing, in all honesty, would have been in any case. brisket, I fear, had to go back. a huge block of completely dry, inedible materie, which should never be served, it was a perfect example for a kitchen that is rigidly attached to a recipe that is likely to work many times in the past with a piece of meat, uniquely inappropriate for. the wange itself was soft and full of taste, maybe still a bit cheap tasting, but in enough treacle-y jus to make it worthwhile, and a beautiful sausage-y faggot also held many rich juices. the highlight of the entire meal was a cheeseboard that was truly world class. a good two dozen or so games from all over the world.

Perhaps some of them may remember (or not,) but when I first started this website I originally named londonfoodholic . very quickly my love to eat not only outside london, but throughout Europe, which eventually led to fall london from my name. nowadays everything becomes a little out of control when I'm honest, but the problem still remains the same, I just can't stop eating! a part of my dissatisfied appetits meant that I would make a trip in the north, at least what I was in the north. I heard of a new chef chef who caused a little excitement in the wirral, and of course I could not resist the temptation, the trip planned and in the...more
