Le Bar du Palais

The host at our hotel recommended this place for dinner and it did not disappoint. I had a plate which featured a large sausage made from tripe. Excellent sausage served with great fries and a salad. If you like this type of meat you must...try. My wife ordered the beef which came with choice of sauces. She chose the blue cheese sauce which was very good. It was a large cut of beef perfectly cooked. This dish was served with a terrific potato dish that was rich in garlic and creamy cheese. Wine prices were fair an the staff was on it. Get in early as the small space filled up fast.

We ate at Le Bar du Palais a few times while staying near Murat. The staff were welcoming and friendly, we enjoyed all our meals there. Excellent soups, generous salads, and truffade, all really tasty. Also on the menu a selection of tartines and daily...specials e.g Pissaladière. Delicious desserts as well try the warm chocolate cake. The mirabelle crumble was also lovely. Plenty of choice for vegetarians. Highly recommended.

We arrived mid-evening at the Hotel aux Globetrotters and asked if anywhere was still serving food in the town centre. They suggested this bar/restaurant. It was indeed open late and we had a really good evening meal. The people running it were friendly and the...woman who served us spoke the sort of excellent English that makes us Brits abroad just weep. Would happily go back

We really enjoyed our visit. Good food based on local produce (such as the Salers beef). Good service. Made our top for dinner over a week cycling trip across France.

Nice: truffade, rosé wine from Languedoc. Average: Cold meet, wrong dish served. Location very central and nice outdoor terrace. Could improve: Quality of service
