We stopped at Creutzwald on the way back to England due to its proximity to the autoroute We stayed at the Ace hotel little expecting to find anything other than food before bed Le Baron Rouge is tremendous. At “only” 4 hours from Calais we are already planning a trip back The food, as mentioned by others, is archetypal French bistro and brilliantly so. My wife had a chicken salad followed by a duck confit and I had foid gras and two stunning black sausages The puddings were genuinely exceptional Service was friendly and helpful wine, and rum, all good Suffice to say, if your stop home is Strasbourg, Reims or could be here go to Creutzwald and enjoy a meal at the Baron Rouge!

You cannot get a more perfect definition of a classic French Bistro than Le Baron Rouge. The food is to die for, service friendly and impeccable with a very much local feel. I ordered the steak tartare and watched as they made it table side and it certainly was one of the best steak tartares I have ever tasted. Incredibly fresh and when washed down with a great tasting wine that they offer on their wine list it made for an amazing tase experience. This is one of those eateries I would love to keep a secret so that it doesn’t get swamped by tourists and gets ruined but I also want the Baron Rouge to get the recognition it deserves.

Nobody here spoke English and German didn't seem to get me very far either even though we're only a couple miles from the border, but this was a perfect little French restaurant experience. The food was great a meat plate entrée, coffee, salad, toasted sandwiches, and amazing dessert. The place filled up fast, so reservations might be good. There were two free tables though, so we got one and enjoyed the evening.

Great food wine. Managed to get in on Saturday night even without reservation. Live music, very busy with locals (good sign). Lots of specials on blackboards all round the room
