I visited over Easter weekend, so take that for what's worth -- maybe the staff were rushed and a bit frayed. However, I can only speak for my experience considering I'd driven over an hour and a half to spend a beautiful afternoon in Morpeth. With that said, the food was quite beautiful too look at and the setting a nice nod to a Parisian cafe. Shame about the flies! The staff were friendly, bordering on overly jovial and carefree. One young waitress dropped a load of dishes and silverware while clearing a table; she joked "i could feel it going". Another gentleman failed to provide my partner with cutlery for her open-faced sandwich. My partner, not making a fuss, ate it as you might eat Ve...

After our lunch at another venue we walked the main street looking for a suitable place for a coffee. We were very fortunate we came across Common Grounds as it is now named. We sat outside on the covered back verandah with views of the river and were fortunate it was a warm sunny day despite being winter - it was a delightfully warm spot to relax and enjoy the coffee. The coffee was one of the best I've tasted and the range of sweet goodies were irresistible. We tried the lemon tart and caramel slice. Service was relaxed and friendly and as one of our drink orders was inadvertently forgotten, they told us it was "on the house" when they brought it out to us. We did peek at the lunch menu an...

We booked a family breakfast because of previous reviews and were excited for our visit to Morpeth. We got to the cafe and was told where we seated but not shown to our table. Everyone received their meals except for myself and another family member, the waiter didn't put our meal orders into the kitchen which the manager came out to apologise and took the coffees off our bill to compensate. As we had a lot of people they we wanted to pay for what we ordered but was told they do not split bills. The view of the river was blocked by over grown trees.

This cafe, now called Common Grounds, deserves its good reviews. It has friendly staff, a great location and an imaginative menu. There are very good gluten-free choices on the lunch menu and my choice of corn bread/asparagus and tomato was delicious. Coffee was hot and service was efficient. If you sit on the covered back deck, there is a lovely rural view, including the river, but in cooler weather bring a jacket. I look forward to my next visit. Réservez une table maintenant

Lunch at Le Beau Cafe (soon to be renamed Common Grounds) was fabulous. We took my vegetarian, disabled mother for lunch and could not have asked for better service. The waiters and managers were so welcoming, helping with the wheelchair and making sure that we were all comfortable and happy. The food was fabulous and the coffee is of Sydney standard (a great compliment). This is the place to eat in Morpeth. Thank you for your wonderful service.

Renamed Common Grounds. I came with my partner for breakfast and had the grilled cornbread. The cornbread sadly was extremely dry and crumbled whenever I tried to put my fork in it. It also needed more goats cheese. But other than that it's a great location with good service and the best coffee I have ever had in my life.

We were heading north and stopped in Morpeth for lunch and a quick look at the shops (according to my wife there is a very good ladies fashion store here!!). Nice country cafe with pleasant views from the balcony room. Food was good and service friendly. Yes we will come back here, if we are ever in Morpeth again!!

A lovely location not matched by the Sunday lunch experience. There were few light choices on the menu, ie sandwiches, salads or wraps. My bagel was dry and the long black poorly made and tasteless. Staff were friendly but service was inefficient. Réservez une table maintenant

We ordered 7 coffees for our family here everyday for the whole weekend. Glee Roasters coffee which is the best! Cute cottage-style setting.
