Visited this restaurant for the first time in September 2016, having driven past it for over 10 years! Thought to ourselves if this restaurant has been here this long it must be ok! On out first visit (having checked out other Trip Advisor reviews we were not disappointed, the host was most welcoming and the food was absolutely delicious! The coucous is superb with the choice to add chick peas, harissa and sultanas to it. The boulettes (meatballs are delish and others who have dined with us have had the chicken and merguez which was equally delicious. The vegetables too served in a huge casserole are totally yummy and all in all we love visiting this restaurant. We visit this part of Normandie every 5 weeks or so and make a beeline to Le Berbère each visit now...what a lovely find :
We have visited here on numerous occasions over the past few years. The menu is fairly simple a selection of grilled meats accompanied by a tasty vegetable stew and couscous (accompanied by harrissa, chickpeas and sultanas). There is also an interesting selection of North African wines. The proprietor is very friendly and the place is popular with the locals. It is also very good value. We always know that we will have a good feed here and it makes a nice change from the usual French fare.
My son and I came here yesterday (Friday which is market day in Vire) and had a delicious, warming lunch. We had couscous (veg, chicken varieties) with the accompanying chick peas, macerated sultanas, harissa. Monsieur chef-patron gave us a warm welcome, explained the dishes, and chatted with us in a relaxed and friendly manner. Very good value for money too. Highly recommend.
