The lovely, bright restaurant space in this hotel (formerly occupied by the 5ieme Peché - now relocated to Collioure) has been taken over by a great young chef who has worked in many fine restaurants (including 3* Le Grand Véfour in Paris). The restaurant is a 5 minute drive from central Collioure, and the hotel has ample parking which is a delight as it can be very hard to find a space in central Collioure. The room is spacious and bright, with a large terrace for good weather eating that looks out over the Med. Whilst it is smart, it is also laid-back and there is no problem bringing kids here. The food is light, bright and fresh, focussing on seasonal ingredients. The plates look wonderful, and there is plenty of flavour. This is obviously an intelligent chef who knows his techniques, but doesn't veer off into anything to molecular. We had lunch, which was remarkably good value - 18€ for 2 courses or 24€ for 3 including a glass of wine. Fresh, local products are the name of the game, cooked perfectly. This is a very welcome addition to the local scene - which now has some seriously good cooking with la Balette, le Bartavelle and le 5ieme Peché as well. The restaurant has just opened, so it's quiet, but I'm sure once word gets around you'll need to book in advance.
