We were staying at Hotel Normandy so we just walked across the road to Bistro Montmartre and went in without even trying to translate the menu. No formule just a list but it was a Sunday. I went for entrecote with gorganzola, but no entrecote so offered rump which was fine €18.50, my husband had the Cassoulet Normandie €12. We asked for the wine list and we were just asked - red or white, 250 or 500 cl. That was it - no decisions necessary. Fine by us. The first carafe went rather quickly so we ordered another €9.80 each. For dessert we had a Brulee €6.20 and a white chocolate mousse €6.80 which we thought might have had banana in it.It was an enjoyable meal and the restaurant was buzzy and the staff friendly.

On returning to Vernon from Giverny, early afternoon and ready for a nice lunch and a beer. This great little place provided it. Attentative waiter, stressed the provenance of their food and explained their dishes. One if us had the suburb local, andouillette sausage. Other local dishes, the Normandy poulet all good. Nice street setting and good service. Well priced.

This bistro is open for lunch only, not dinner. Conveniently located by the church, town hall, and tourist info center. Seemed to be frequented mostly by locals. I had an excellent omelet. Tables were crowded close together, but this added to the local ambience. I liked this place a lot, and it far surpasses the touristy cafeteria next to Giverny.

We stopped here on our way to Monet's Garden for a latish lunch (~1:30 PM). My French is good enough that I have ordered all over Paris and Burgundy with no problems. The server was immensely rude, passive aggressive, with an incredibly poor attitude.
