We visited this lovely restaurant on the advice of our host at Chez Helen. It was mid November, it had been snowing earlier in the day so not really peak season. It was great to see a local restaurant so busy on a Thursday night. We were greeted by a very friendly server when we arrived who embraced my poor French and made us feel welcome by answering us in English. We were shown to the back room which was very intimate. This restaurant is built into former cellars so the rooms are small and with stone walls had great atmosphere. Whilst we were there a table of 20 people arrived, again a great sign for middle of winter. The food is great, good value for excellent quality. Slight downside was the other server who forgot to bring us our water and had a slight attitude. To be fair to him he may well have been busy with the large table, however comparing him to the other gentleman who greeted us he only let himself down. All in all, this is a great restaurant, great food, serving local produces in traditional French ways, for very affordable prices. All round great and we would certainly return if we were in the area again.

This is an atmospheric informal restaurant in an old cellar. The service and food are classy with great wines at a reasonable price. There is a set menu at €30 for 3 courses all beautifully served and described by the waiter. Included was a delicious amuse bouche of macaron with blue cheese. Excellent starters include lightly seared tuna and a fois gras mousse. The chicken main was extremely tender. Particularly recommended is the chocolate soufflé desert. Everything was served with a flourish and looked like a work of art. The bill for 2 was €76 and this included service. Great value and worth making a special detour to eat there.

We had to wait 2 nights to get a reservation, but it was well worth the wait. When we arrived, the owner rembembered us from when we had made the booking and made us feel so very welcome. We ate outside on the terrace, it was a beautiful evening, and could watch the world go by. We had the formule menu, which was delicious, and also great value. Throughtout the meal staff were attentive and friendly, and worked hard to ensure that we enjoyed our meal. A must-visit place in Montperoux. The dos de cabillaud en croûte d’herbesavec fenouil et coulis de crustacés was stunning.

Decent meal at Bistrot Zen but slightly overrated.Brasserie food quality, good, fish was well cooked, good fancy desserts. Standard beef filet with bearnaise, polenta chips lacking taste. My snails starter was lacking a bit of taste. Overall prices a little expensive versus quality, but probably due to the chef owning another Michelin starred restaurant in the region. Service courteous, a bit stiff and was a bit slow.
