On a Sunday evening in France one is often pushed to find any grub - let alone something as pleasing as this. The set menu for euros 25-28 for 2-3 courses (drinks not included) was ok given the quality of the ingredients. The starters were small, but beautifully prepared - beignets of vegetables and roulade. There was also a really good pate as a little taster. The main courses, duck (really succulent and pink) and pork fillet were again well presented and beautifully cooked. Slight quibble the vegetable garnish - but accept the French don't seem keen on their veg in any quantity. The cheese was certainly good but prefer it warmer, and we like Camembert runny. Good wine selection, and the local malvoisie was much enjoyed. The service was attentive but not overbearing. Would happily return if in the area again.
We ate here twice while staying in Ancenis. The food is excellent - both meals that I had were perfect. The steak and the duck were beautifully cooked with great sauces and just the perfect amount of vegetables. The blood orange mousse was absolutely delicious. The restaurant is tucked away up from the river but is certainly worth seeking out. Superb!
This is a lovely restaurant which offers delicious, mostly locally-sourced food in a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. The owners are a charming couple who speak German, French and English. They offer an excellent wine list which includes some particularly good local wines. Would happily recommend the restaurant and hope to return one day.
Enjoyed our meal at Le Bouche a Oreille more than any other restaurant in area. Owner served us beautifully. Supported our poor French, whilst helping us to believe our French was better than it is. Menu's written in French and English. Some amazing items and drinks sourced locally. Will make a visit back when next in town.
