We were returning from a days sightseeing and found this quite by accident. The restaurant is right by a little tributary of the Gironde, with boats tied up alone the river and swifts catching insects as the evening sun went down. It was delightful in every way: location and welcome were great but the seafood was outstanding. We ate here 2 nights on a row because the food was so good. J'ai du mal à donner une note élevée aux restaurants très simples, mais ce restaurant local est une exception. Le menu, bien que quelque peu limité, met en valeur les fruits de mer de France avec une vue sur les docks. J'ai commandé la célèbre Lamproie à la Bordelaise... Je l'ai commandée à cause de sa renommée dans cette région du monde. C'était vraiment délicieux, mais ne lisez pas la recette. Found this place entirely by accident whilst cycling through France. I was on the banks of the Gironde and was just pottering about when I saw a sign for Port de Saint-Vivien. The restaurant wasn't advertised, I just stumbled upon it by the river with boats alongside, the lot. Clearly a family run establishment and I received a warm welcome. Plenty of fresh fish and shellfish on the menu, but the full range. I started with lovely bulots with lemon mayonnaise followed by two lemon sole, simply fried with french fries. I have a hard time giving very simple restaurants a top rating, but this out of the way local restaurant is an exception. The menu although somewhat limited showcases the seafood of France with a view on the docks. I had the famous Lamprey Bordelaise. I ordered it because of its fame in this part of the world. It was really great, but don't read the recipe. The locally raised oysters on the half shell were large and delicious. 12 oysters with a side of pate was 14 euros. Most people in the restaurant had mussels or the impressive seafood plateaux. The desserts were very impressive with one of the best apple tarts I have ever had. If you are in the area don't miss this place.
restaurant very well located at the port of Saint vivien, on the edge of the fairway. room in length, with a very simple decor. choose a table by the water. The kitchen is simple, family and copier. the fisherman's plate, at 17€, is composed of a fish of the day, mussels, incornets and fries. a little expensive but tasteful. the gourmet coffee includes a chocolate melt, a tatin pie, a vanilla ice ball and for 5€ it is very good. impeccable and smiling service.
Des portions très généreuses à un bon prix, avec un accent sur les fruits de mer locaux. Nous avons dégusté de la soupe de poisson, des calmars, des crevettes, des moules, des gambas (grosses crevettes) et un steak, tous délicieux.
Super restaurant familial, rapport qualité/prix très bon. Des portions généreuses centrées sur les produits de la mer locaux. Peut-être pourraient-ils faire un effort pour ajouter 2-3 choix de plus pour les végétariens !!!

Very generous portions at a good price, with a focus on local seafood. We had fish soup, squid, prawns, moules, gambas (giant prawns) and steak, all of which were delicious.
