We have visited this restaurant before and although one of the waiters was extremely rude and very shouty the food was ok so today we decided to give it another go whilst visiting ville France. When we arrived at the main seating area it was a little cold and was drizzling a little so we saw 2 small tables under cover which we was happy to sit at but upon asking the rude waiter from before if we could sit there, he shouted at us that we couldn't sit there and we had to go and sit at the back on the grand tables. Situé au sein des remparts du magnifique village de Villefranche-de-Conflent, c'est un petit café agréable. Comme il faisait beau, nous nous sommes assis dans la charmante cour, mais je dois ajouter que le bar/café intérieur est vraiment confortable et joliment décoré. Nous voulions seulement des boissons, mais je dois dire que la nourriture que nous avons vue servie avait l'air très appétissante. Les prix sont également très raisonnables avec le plat du jour aux alentours de 7 euros. Notre serveur était très sympathique et le service était bon.
This place has a lot of local flavor, both in the staff and the food. We don't speak French, but they were very patient and figured out what we need. They were so kind and friendly to our children and made it clear that we were welcome even if the kiddos squawked a bit.It was a day after the mushroom festival and the champignon soufflé they served was wonderful. A vegetarian plate, pomme frites for the kiddos, excellent local wine, great cappuccino, a cool view of the castle, and delightful people...what more could you want?

Nous avons déjeuné ici récemment après avoir visité les Grottes de la Grande Canalette et avons été très impressionnés. Les portions étaient très généreuses et extrêmement savoureuses. Ma femme a pris la quiche et moi la pizza - elle ressemblait presque à une quiche avec une garniture très profonde et était incroyablement savoureuse. Le vin et l'eau minérale étaient tous deux à un prix raisonnable. Le personnel était très serviable. Dans l'ensemble, c'était un très bon choix.
One of only a couple of cafes in Villefranch, Le Canigou or Fireman's cafe is a nice place to stop for a drink or meal. It is at the south end of the Vauban town. It serves food and occasionally has live music. Service can occasionally be slow but that can be said of several cafes I've been to of late. Inside is a collection of fireman memorabilia from helmets to badges.
C'est un petit refuge fabuleux pour prendre un verre, je n'y ai pas mangé mais j'ai été très bien accueilli. Un pompier dirige cet endroit et, mon Dieu, ce sont de vrais héros ! Très sympathique, bon vin, qu'est-ce qu'il ne faut pas aimer !
Mon mari et moi, ainsi que nos deux enfants, avons pris quelques verres ici. Nous avons trouvé que c'était un endroit détendu. Une bonne atmosphère et proche d'un magasin "Champignon".

This is a bar used by locals for lunch so you know it is going to be unpretentious and good value. The Catalan sausage is spicy and meaty and therefore very tasty.
Went for coffee and pastries with friends. Good quality coffee served hot, outside space is best for atmosphere.
