The portions are... ...:Large. You have been warned! On arrival we were asked where we were from and were offered a menu in English. However, we were not familiar with Alsacienne cuisine and I made the mistake of ordering two dishes: a tarte flambe, which I assumed would be small and would make a pleasant starter, and a potato dish. The tarte turned out to be as large as a pizza. My wife ordered what was described as triple tartlets. These arrived as three medium sized ramekins any one of which would have been a substantial main course. The food was good, interesting but too much to finish. Looking around I don't think we were the only diners unable to finish their meal. The service was good. We were shown to an open air table. Our order was taken promptly and the food was delivered shortly afterwards. I'd advise a detailed conversation about the dishes before placing your order.
We were staying overnight in Thann and so checked out TripAdvisor to see what was recommended. This place seemed to get good reviews so we decided to try it. The comments from previous reviewers about the size of the meals were correct – you do get a very large serving. My wife tried the Chicken Cordon Alsacien and I had the Potato Chamoniarde. Mine was not quite what I was expecting – it was a ramekin with creamy potatoes next to a salad with slice ham on it. It was very nice (as was the chicken). We both had dessert. My wife had 3 scoops of ice cream/sorbet and I had the coupe for noire. My was very nice – chocolate with cherries and cream in a glass. We had a Riesling to go with dinner and a limoncello each to finish off. The service was pleasant and efficient. All in all a good meal.
Une belle découverte! Une très bonne fondue. Les serveuses sont aux petits soins (mention spéciale à Audrey et Jessie). Nous reviendrons pour goûter d'autres plats.
