We really enjoyed our night here and it was worth every centime! Aperitifs by the pool watching the sunset over Port Vendres with some delicious appetisers whilst perusing the menu. Seated under the trees in the garden, watching the rabbit hop under each table for...scraps our Amuse Bouche arrived a tomato and potatoe creme brûlée sounds odd and like it shouldn't work but it did and raised our expectations. A good kids menu which saw our daughter opting for chicken and potatoes but let's be clear this was really high quality chicken, beautifully prepped with lovely crisp skin. This as followed by vanilla and raspberry ice cream again very high quality. Parents on the menu started with a Fois Gras which was topped with a blackberry/currant/redfruits layer which we scrapped off as the marmalade and brioch was beautiful on its own. This was followed by slow cooked lamb with a stock reduction and vegetable and this was to die for! Really rich sauce and a moist lamb with HUGE flavour. Beaten we went for the cheese option, again all good and we ordered some red wine by the glass with our cheese as some how our bottle of Alchimiste had disappeared I blame the heat! A couple of coffees and a taxi home. The bill was and worth it Recommend and will revisit
We spent a very enjoyable evening here, outside in the gardens overlooking the harbour. First issue was the lack of a kids menu, bit of a surprise given that it's a hotel. We opted for tow menus and they were very nice.....fois gras which was...nice and the scallop and langoustine. This was followed by fillet steak and duck and a chocolate and raspberry mousse to close The food was all delicious but on reflection at the size of the bill.....we were forced to conclude that it was a tad over priced So for us, we probably won't revisit which is a shame as we really enjoyed it last year much more so than this year.
We visit Port Vendres every time we are in the area and have tried lots of different restaurants. A local bar owner had said it was one of the best. Decided to visit as it is in such a lovely location overlooking the town and...port. Menu reads well but food was mediocre and pricey. Wine expensive. Staff were pleasant but not very knowledgeable. Won't revisit.
We were three and a dog and were treated to some very interesting and tasty food. The chef seems genuinely interested in making sure that we had what we wanted and such flexibility to custom make your meal exactly to your requirements is a rarity...these days. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and we three could not have been happier!
