An afternoon in Paris only a cab ride from my apartment. As soon as I walked in, I heard the warm strains of Django Swing. Things got better from there. I went for their legendary cassoulet, but as it was a very hot day, I chose a Beet Salad w/added Duck Confit. As good as I've had even given my own 30 years in the restaurant biz. Thank you, Carlos H. I can't wait to go back.
I can't believe this was my first time dining at Le Central! Great central location (is that the source of the name..?? , historic/old school vibe, good service, delicious food, and not overly pricy for this day and age. Will definitely be back!
The lunch menu is great. I got the beet salad and shared the beef with wine sauce and my dining partner got the burger with brie cheese. The food and servicer were excellent and the atmosphere was transporting us to Paris.
It had been several years since we dined at Le Central. It was a joyful (and delicious) return to an old favorite downtown San Francisco place, wondering why we waited so long to return. We'll be back soon. Réservez une table maintenant
Still one of my favorite old school places in S.F., but what happened to the cassoulet? The sausage is overpowering and the whole dish is much too salty. It used to be sublime. Bring that version back.
A San Francisco staple. Fantastic dinner service. We had everything from the escargot, pate, endive salad to beef bourguignon, sole menuiere with the mushrooms. Everything was delicious!
Had a small group for lunch. Food was perfect and service was A+.. we had a fabulous meal. It was quiet for us to be able to have lots of important conversations.
