While skiing in St Sorlin d’Arves, a charming sight from the chairlift caught my eye – Les Cèdres restaurant. On the snow-clad mountains, this culinary place stands out with its unique offering, a stark contrast to the usual mountain fare of cheese and ham. Les Cèdres boasts an open-air Mediterranean BBQ on their terrace, an inviting scene for skiers. The ease of access is remarkable – simply ski down to the end of the track, unclip your skis, and you’re ready for a sumptuous lunch under the bright, sunny skies. The lunch menu primarily features grilled delicacies – meat, fish, and seafood. I indulged in a grilled octopus, served in a spicy, yet not overpowering sauce. It was a welcome change from the heavier, cheese-based dishes common in winter resorts. Service at Les Cèdres is amiable, but a word of caution – it’s a popular spot, so reservations might be necessary. Les cèdres is also a hotel, exuding a sense of luxury that’s quite unusual for this area. For a delightful lunch break on your ski trip, Les Cèdres worth a try. Its unique Mediterranean twist amidst the alpine setting is truly an experience.

This is the restaurant of the hotel “Chalet Hotel La Balme”, where we came back more than thirty years after our youth stays, from 1975 to 1985. The restaurant of the chalet is now at the quality top. We were half board with breakfast and dinner ... everything is plentiful, has a fine taste, and the service is very attentive. The hotel has modernized and is very comfortable, it now has three deserved stars and the rates are really not excessive. We booked live at the same rates as through the middlemen. The Jean family is always in charge, and the welcome is always attentive and warm. The hotel is close to the ski tracks, so the start for skiing is simple. Our stay was too short and we will be back. une belle terrasse et une chambre très confortable et lumineuse.

We were staying in the hotel on the recommendation of friends. One of the reasons they recommended it was the food and it's true: it's delicious, very varied and well presented and the service is good as well.
