Ce n'était pas la première visite au Chalet d'Oz cette saison, mais alors que la neige fond lentement, cela pourrait être la dernière pour l'instant, et une autre opportunité de le vérifier. À l'heure du déjeuner très fréquentée d'un dimanche ensoleillé, le service était impeccable, rapide et amical, l'atmosphère n'était pas chaotique et désorganisée, mais très calme et agréable, et la nourriture était une fois de plus étonnamment bonne et jamais autre chose que chaude, bien que nous ayons mangé en terrasse (bien que ce ne soit pas un jour très froid). Located on the Olmet run leading down from the top (and middle station) of the Poutran lift (i.e. on the way down to Oz Station).Small restaurant and all the better for it. It has a personal, cosy feel to it. A bit like eating in someone`s farm kitchen. Great place to be holed up if the weather closes in. When the sun`s out - there`s a warm, sheltered terrace.The food is simple but cooked beautifully. Good ingredients and well flavoured. We have had the most wonderful time with our very friendly hosts Andy and Gill. The accommodation is superb, they offer apartments which can be self catered or half board and are so well equipped they would more than satisfy every need. Ideal for skiing as it's only 8 km from the nearest lifts at Oz which links up to Alpe d'Huez ski area and I believe if you don't want to drive you can catch the bus outside the Chalet or Andy can take you in the mini bus. We had two meals this season at Le Chalet d'Oz and it was an extraordinary experience every time. While most restaurants on the slopes, especially when they fight food on the terrace, to supply dishes and leave them warm, Le Chalet d'Oz supplies hot dishes that somehow stay hot for long enough you need to eat them. We have tried to tartiflette, soup of the day (pumpkin), stunning burgers, tasty pommes, as well as delicious profiteroles de madeleine and chocolate muffins. Super setting between Alp d'Huez & Oz.Great family cooked cuisine- lots of lovely local dishes and some fantastic puddings.Warm welcome and all round great place either on terrace in the sun or snuggle up inside near the wood burning stove.A must visit venue if you are in Alp d'Huez, Oz or Vaujany.
