In march, it's out of season and Le Charmy is one of a number of restaurants that is open to serve the locals and out of season visitors.Whilst we have visited this Restaurant in high season, where along with other establishments it is extremely busy, this visit was a leisurely affair as along with my wife were two friends visiting from the UK.We were warmly greeted and offered a choice of tables.We each chose a Menu (16,90) which provided a reasonably wide choice of starters, mains and a dessert.Teo, our waiter who we discovered was from Italy was excellent; friendly and very helpful.We will visit again.
This is the 3rd, maybe 4th time we have eaten at Le Charmy and unlike previously when its been out of season, tonight was high season and the standard of service and food was exceptional. The presentation and quality of the food is absolutely spot on and a credit to the owners, who are themselves extremely polite and friendly. We chose the €17.90 menu which included a choice of starters comprising of soupe de poisson, a delicate crousillant de Chevre chaude (french with an asian twist) or a tapas fruit de mer. Mains included Grilled dourade, veal steak or a Marmite de pecheur, all of which are home made.
Had dinner here on our last night in the area. The menu was extensive and not over priced. There was a good mix of local diners and visitors of all nationalities. The staff were attentive, helpful and polite and most seemed to have good English. We had a carafe of local vin rose accompanying our meal of steak, fries and side salad as main, soup starter and crème brulee. Total bill 42.30 euros. We dined in the exterior marquee, the interior had more of a Spanish feel to it with tiles typical of a bistro. The rest rooms were on ground floor level and were clean and modern
Like many of the restaurants we've visited on the main strip of Allee du General de Gaulle in Valras this place is barely a step above fast food. Uncomfortably busy, tasteless, overpriced and rushed, we were treated as an inconvenience. Our plans to dine while watching the world go by were quickly scuppered when we were seated on the road behind the main strip, despite our requests and availability in our preferred area. Advice for visiting Valras in the summer? Take a picnic.

En tant que famille de 3 personnes avec une fille de 11 ans, ce restaurant s'adresse à tous. Nous avons visité l'année dernière et avons veillé à revenir lors de notre retour dans la région cette année. Le personnel est très amical et serviable. La nourriture est savoureuse et d'un bon rapport qualité-prix, surtout si vous avez l'un des menus. Je le recommanderais certainement!
Seafood t'apas' plate with a shot of gazpacho, tartare of octopus,mussels on toast and deep fried cuttlefish strips was excellent and innovative and the sea bream was well cooked.A light dessert of fromage frais studded with caramelised apple was a light finish to a good meal. The choices were from the set menu and excellent value at around 17euros.
