We were lucky to catch the Crocodile open the day before the owners went off on holiday. It was our second visit and just as good. Entrecote steak cooked in front of the open wood fire and doneness as ordered, pretty good gratin potatoes (not as good as mine), with a reasonable bottle of red. What we remembered most from our first visit though was the pain perdu dessert and once again it was stupendous and I am talking as one who doesn't usually eat sweets. Coffee is also good in a nice cup that I wanted to steal.Service from the waitress, whom I assume is the owner, was engaging, charming and faultless.We have a house about 50kms away and it is a no-brainer for us that this is the go to place when heading towards Rennes.
A very warm reception and a pleasant ambience. No menu as such but there were boards on the walls and the waitress was extremely helpful. A starter of tomato stuffed with shrimp was enjoyable and we both had the entrecote which was grilled in front of the open fire, also delicious. Wine was available by the carafe which I always like and it too was a decent drop. We shared the pain perdu for dessert and although I'm not normally a sweet person ate more than my fair share. Only slight downside was the coffee which was average. All in all a good old fashioned French restaurant which are becoming harder to find these days. Certainly worth a little hop if you are in Rennes.
Très joli restaurant. Un personnel qui est tout aussi confortable avec le client et attentif. Excellente valeur pour les plats exquis, les marchandises présentées et servies rapidement. Une mention spéciale à la petite samoussa de chocolat de la plaque gourmande qui m'a complètement volée : c'était vraiment la cerise sur le gâteau de ce repas. On sera de retour !
