"So much more than just a fabulous little French restaurant in Gascony. Very cute terrace, amazing food and charming service. What a wonderful surprise. We only wish we had discovered this one sooner so that we could return before we leave. To my taste, the most perfect Fois Gras dish I've had, anywhere."

It was an extremely cold Weds. when we arrived at Le Florida. We called ahead to make a reservations as we'd heard it was very popular. We were greeted in a friendly manner and given a table by the fireplace, then almost completely ignored. Granted they were busy, but it took an hour and a half to get our meals. We had to ask about the menu du jour. We had to ask to order. We had to ask for the wine we'd ordered and some bread while waiting. My entree, though poetically written as a basket of delicate, forgotten vegetables was inedible and my main course of boiled vegetables in a chestnut cream sauce were not the roasted vegetable plate I ordered. By the dessert time, the fire had burned low and the small dining room was very cold. No one, except a young woman from Mexico doing a learning exchange following the head waiter, was attentive. We were the only ones left in the restaurant and had to ask for the bill. I was very disappointed because we'd asked beforehand when making the reservation for a special vegetarian meal. None of us said anything because we wanted to see what happened and to our disappointment, nothing did. My friend's meals were good, but not special. The restaurant's decor was very nice and tasteful, though not a reason to return and we all decided we wouldn't. Overall, considering the hours drive to get there, the prices and the lack of attention, it wasn't worth it.

So happy to return today for lunch at this lovely restaurant. The usual sunny welcome was there even though the weather meant that we couldn't eat on the terrace. What a delightful in door experience- the cool colours and stripped beams providing the perfect backdrop to our menu de jour . Amazing value (£16 .50 euros) for pate or white bean and jambon soup - fish with asparagus and fennel or chicken and mushrooms- and did I mention the perfect egg custard with caramel? Help with the wine choice from our friendly waiter who I remember was Irish ) and the warmest welcome as before from Bapiste made this the perfect lunch . I remarked that if I could only eat at one restaurant a year - then this would be it ! Booking is essential as so many have been disappointed when we have been eating there . You will not regret searching out this Gers Gem .

We booked a table for lunch for six incl. A small child. No chair for the child, but we could have the trolly in the Connery and managed. Acceptable for US and the restaurant. Service was very asertative and friendly also Towers the child even with a full restaurant.2 menu of the Day (three course), me just with starter and main course and then Teo with main and dessert. Good timing in service with different dishes. Two different appetizers from the chef. Very good taste. All courses were good with very good taste and also looking good.A bottle of rose vine was fine to share with additional water.Total impression is very good and if you are in the area then you should try it. Price is fine compared to what you get.

Have just returned from a delicious meal here. The owner (Baptiste) was extremely accommodating and friendly ensuring we understood the menu which was in French (as was to be expected!) Food was presented beautifully with various amuse bouches on the house which was a nice touch. Highly recommend visiting and booking in advance -thanks Baptiste for looking after us so well (and Ezra the baby diner who joined us!)
