Le Gard 1895 - Réserver une table

Nous étions logés sur place et nous sommes promenés dans Sospel, nous n'étions pas d'humeur à manger une pizza et sommes tombés sur cet endroit près du parking. Ils nous ont fait asseoir tôt (ils ouvrent à 7h30 mais asseyons-nous et commandons tôt à 19h) Mon français est un peu médiocre, mais le propriétaire était fantastique et je suis aussi intolérant au gluten, mais il l'a parfaitement compris et tout a été préparé en toute sécurité sur commande . J'ai pris le canard et mon mari a pris le bœuf, tous deux très bien cuisinés et avaient un goût incroyable. Les desserts aussi très délicieux ! Le propriétaire et les membres du personnel se sont assurés que nous passions une nuit agréable et c'était agréable de s'asseoir au bord du ruisseau avec des lumières colorées ! J'y retournerai certainement !

A superb dining experience on the banks of the River Bevera in Sospel. The service could not be faulted. The presentation was impressive. The only thing which surpassed both were the dishes themselves. The entrees were fresh and included the best chevre we have tasted in France, in generous portions. For the mains, my fish was cooked to perfection with artichoke hearts and succulent stems in a herb jus. My dining partner ordered the cabbage parcels with marinated lamb mince and was most satisfied. For dessert, his chocolate cake was delicious but my honey nougat on a raspberry coulis was the hands-down winner.English is spoken but we appreciated their patience and encouragement with our stumbling French.Nous reviendrons.

This stylish establishment serves classic French and regional dishes and, mercifully, great veggie options. Instead of the usual French restaurant suggestions for salad and an omelet, the chef and his team produce scrumptious vegetarian dinners that get the carnivores wondering why they ordered the duck... The wine list is a bit minimalist, and they could do with a few more upscale wine offerings, but overall, this is a very enjoyable place to spend an evening, dine in comfort and style right next to the river, and be served with impeccable courtesy and friendliness. Highly recommended.

Le chef de l'Hôtel des Étrangers a ouvert un nouveau restaurant qui s'appelle Le Gard 1895. Bien que le chef soit le même, nous avons été déçus par le changement de menu, plus de ravioli sauce daube, pas de joues de porc qui étaient la raison pour laquelle nous y allions chaque année. De plus, plus de liste de vins excitante et la dame de la maison est restée à l'hôtel pour le gérer, elle nous manquait aussi. La nourriture n'était pas mauvaise et le service était très sympathique mais malheureusement pour nous, ce n'était plus "la peine de faire un détour".

We were a party of four and had an excellent meal with attentive service. I hope people make the journey to go to this restaurant which has only been open for about 18 months and is a bit off the beaten track. The have a small but good wine list, will cater very well for vegetarians, and fresh and interesting fare.
