Nous passons beaucoup de temps à Châtel, tant en été qu'en hiver, et je trouve cet endroit formidable et suis perplexe face à certaines mauvaises critiques. Le Genepi ne cherche pas à offrir une cuisine gastronomique (essayez le Vieux Four pour cela)... mais ce qu'il fait, il le fait vraiment bien. Une sélection de plats classiques français tels que le foie gras de canard et les cuisses de grenouilles mais aussi des hamburgers et des pizzas délicieux, de superbes crêpes salées et sucrées, ainsi qu'une sélection variée de plats du jour. Ate here twice during my summer holiday in Chatel. First occasion was a meal for five to celebrate my twins' birthday. Good selection of local dishes. Le Berthould was a great dish of melted cheese with salad, potatoes and ham. Good selection of ice cream desserts some with alcohol added. The chocolate liegois was delicious. Added sparklers to the twins' desserts made the evening special. We liked it so much we went back for the final meal of our holiday to sample the fondue bourguinon. The meat was good quality and sauces delicious. The staff were really welcoming and friendly. One guy in particular spoke good English and was really nice to chat to.
Of the 4 places I ate dinner in Chatel, this was my favourite - no question!The place was very welcoming (very busy but a table was found) and service was spot-on with staff dashing around. The menu had a great choice, with specialities of the region being what I went for. The tartiflette was fantastic with a generous side salad, but that star was the Berthoud (pot of melted cheesy, wine and garlic, served with charcuterie, potatoes, salad and bread) - this was outstanding.Desserts were fab too! All in all, a great place... will definitely return on my next trip to Chatel.
That's what we had. It was a bit pricey for lunch but we did order a fillet steak. There is English translation on the menu. The waitress was trying to help but just made things more confused. When ordering a beer she said there's Stella or Hoegaarden but there were clearly other choices available on the menu. We had asked for the rib eye steak to start off with but she asked if we knew what it was (something different in French) and explained that it was fatty n we should go for the fillet instead. Otherwise the food was ok.

We went in to have a bite after a long walk in the mountains. The crepes were okay, but nothing special. The filling was good, the pancake not really. Staff was friendly, though, and we had a nice table outside. With a high chair for the little one. When I was paying, a man came in making reservations for dinner, so maybe that's better here.
We were a party of 6 blokes ready for a wholesome meal after a full days skiing. The lad serving us spoke good English and was friendly. I had the risotto with scallops which was most enjoyable. The tartiflette was also enjoyed by a couple of the group. All in all, a friendly experience with good food at a fair price.
Ate here a couple of times, selection for the galettes is limited but they are happy to adapt (I'm a veggie so had the complete with tomato instead of ham) and they are nice and tasty, just be nice to see more flavour options. Many of the people here were having Savoir dishes such as raclette.
Endroit bon marché surévalué exploitant son emplacement de choix. Service grossier. Verre cassé et gobelets de soda par terre le matin. Traversez simplement la rue et évitez cet endroit.

Je n'ai pas aimé la nourriture. Dans la salade César au poulet, il y avait un schnitzel de poulet recouvert d'une épaisse couche de panure.
Lovely little stop quite busy but fantastic food Warm welcome , friendly place. It looks lovely inside and out I highly recommend
