"quite expensive, good food. waiters try to over sell all time , when you want just a main course and no strater, they insist for the starter...it's not very polite."

We dined here with another couple who were familiar with the restaurant. We were warmly greeted by a young man who turned out to be our server for the evening. A large blackboard menu is brought to the table for review. To start, our table ordered the artichoke salad, the oeuf mayonnaise dish, and salmon in Thai oil. The artichoke salad was good but could have used a little more flavor, the eggs looked really good and were gobbled up. Ditto for the salmon appetizer. For mains, I had the veal with mushroom sauce (very good), and my husband had the andouille sausage (also good). Our friends had veal kidneys and a beef dish. For dessert we selected the chocolate cake, strawberry mousse and plum...

We had dinner on a Friday night. They filled up; i would suggest making a reservation. We happened to sit neat to a couple from Minnesota. We helped them translate the menu. The only printed menu is the wine/beer list. Everything else is written on a board that comes to sit by your table when you need to order. There are also daily specials on a smaller board. Both the starter and main were very good. We also got a dessert. All good.

Le Gorgeon is a very traditional place on all counts : warm welcoming, casual but good service, traditional brasserie dishes with a large wine selection. Food is fresh, home made. Meat like the duck breast seems a better choice than the fish. Traditional also implies it is not the lightest meal you can get. Price is on the high side for a brasserie. But overall a nice experience, in particular when the terasse can be used.

Very popular local restaurant absolutely packed when we visited after business meeting. Very good, seemingly very simple food but well cooked and delicious. One of the better meals I 've enjoyed in Paris
