De l'extérieur, le Hanger semble devoir servir du chili ou des burritos - il a un aspect nettement mexicain - avec des orangés ardents et une peinture rouge. Il est donc surprenant de trouver une zone semi-extérieure - idéale pour l'été - et un intérieur décoré avec de vieux disques vinyles, offrant une ambiance rétro. Le service est extrêmement agréable et rapide, l'atmosphère conviviale imprègne toute la zone, il y a de la musique mais pas trop forte. We were recommended this restaurant by our B&B (see La Basse Cour)as one of the best of the relatively few in Alencon open on a Monday evening. It's a couple of hundred yards from the centre but not difficult to find; given the size of the portions we were happy to have a walk back to our car afterwards.The restaurant is is down an entrance-way with a small courtyard that, at first, didn't seem so inviting, and a good sized interior. We were almost the first people there at around 8pm and wondered if we'd made the wrong choice, but the place soon filled and the character of the courtyard improved! My wife and I needed to spend a January Monday night in Alençon in advance we checked tripadvisor and selected Le Hangar. When we arrived at 8.00pm we were warmly welcomed apparently one of the few online bookings. We appeared to be the only diners but were soon joined by a number of others.I had mushrooms stuffed with snails followed by a generous serving of kidneys in a creamy sauce with mashed potatoes. My wife had a calamari cassoulet followed by chicken. We drank a bottle of Rasteau which at mid €20 price was at the upper price end of the wine. We both enjoyed our meals again and would happily eat again at this modestly priced restaurant, we paid €60.

Found this by chance and it's a gem. Lovely ambience and busy both with tourists and locals. Great food, sensible prices and friendly service. Suggest booking if you go with a large group.
