We came across this little place on one of those times when everything in France seems to close; it describes itself as a café, brasserie food all day), bar and PMU betting shop). Probably not the sort of place we would consider stopping at in England but in France corner caffs are often different; the food and wine were surprisingly good and we still visit when we're in the area. The menu is simple and you may eat or just have wine, beer, coffee or chocolate. There are tables on the terrace outside as well as indoors. At the moment 2016) there is an excellent young waitress who deserves a special mention: a personification of calmness and efficiency. On the corner where the road to Fontevraud l'Abbaye branches from the riverside road. Street parking all around.

This is a great little bar/cafe for a lovely lunchtime break. The food is simple but typical, tasty and good value. It's always busy with both locals and visitors and the staff are always friendly with everyone. The cafe is situated on the village square and next to the river with plenty of shaded tables outside and lots of space inside. If you can visit on a Sunday morning you'll also have the benefit of the weekly market.

We had a hard time finding a place for dinner on a busy day and ended up in this little bar/brasserie, full of locals, right on the main square. Dinner was simple: charcuterie, bread, nicely cooked duck in a brown sauce, a decent house wine. Oh, and quite cheap. A pretty good option in this tourist town.
