I must make a distinction between Upper Derby one and the Philly one. While the food is pretty much the same, customer service is very different. I would drive longer to Upper Derby just to avoid Philly 's trashy service.This place is a hidden gem for take out. This place is purely about food. Nothing cute here. It is straight up for those who appreciate food and not get fooled by the restaurant atmosphere decor. The food is delicious, reasonably priced, and good portions!My favorite dishes is dibi and fried fish.
I rarely review places, but this one definitely deserves one. I ordered off Ubers eat around 7:00, and I didn’t get my food til 8:15. The food was lukewarm. The egusi was OILY, and they mainly served me bone or whatever rubbery substance this is without barely any meat. If there was meet, it wasn’t fully cooked and it was rubbery. The egusi itself was horrible, and I don’t know what egusi is supposed to taste like but definitely not this. And had a weird smell too. Ew, I would’ve preferred McDonald’s.
I called on 4/07/2023 about 20 minutes after the store was open. When the lady picked up the phone I asked her if she was serving peanut butter soup, she mumble a few words then called me stupid and hung up the phone. I showed up to the store and instead of apologizing she denied she called me stupid and continued to be disrespectful. That will be the last time I support that business. Food is good but you cannot be that disrespectful to paying customers when they only asked a simple question.
The people were very friendly, they cooked my food to order. This dish was really good for someone being introduced to Africa food because it’s not too spicy. The spice is good but not overwhelming. The lamb was really good. I truly enjoyed my experience so much so that I called them to tell them how awesome everything was. I would recommend this place ten times over and I can’t wait to go back.

They do what they want when it comes to your order…always check your order. I ordered potato greens with fufu and specifically said with palm oil because if you don’t they’ll give you vegetable oil which changes the taste of the dish entirely. They still gave me vegetable oil. People are paying for there food it’s not free please follow instructions.
Personable well mannered young Man named Maka at the front desk. Healthy dishes at an affordable price. Parking is a problem as it is a small lot and filled after just 4 cars and it seems employees or people who park walk elsewhere take up 90%.Vegetarian options: Potato greensParking: See my article
No one to greet you when u arrive in the store, Wait time for service was 15mins then once oder was taken the person had an attitude ? then it took 45 mins for my order to come out the amount was small and the meat was strong undercooked for 25. platter I won't go back againFood: 2/5
I ordered a place sause with rice, and there was chicken and beef, the beef is all the rubbery parts of the meat, really just ridiculous big pieces of gristle. Ahhh, bad experience, and the sause is kind of nasty.
