Le Petit Victorien

Managed to get a table for 2 on spec, but would advise booking as Le Petit is very popular. The restaurant is open and airy, with a mixed range of painting styles adorning the walls. Service was a little haphazard, Monsieur seemed a little stressed but very friendly, as were his waitresses. We ate a la carte, and had starters of Salade Berger and Salade Terroir, followed by steak beurre maison and steak with Morrelles and vin jaune. All were cooked well and tasty. I had a dessert of glacé cerise with chantilly which was delightful. Luckily we had come for a leisurely lunch as service was pretty slow, even by French lunchtime standards, but this didn't detract from what was a very pleasant meal. Total bill with 2 beers and 50cl Rose was around €80.

When we pulled up in the car park, we very nearly drove off. The restaurant doesn’t look amazing from outside and we could see there was literally no one in the restaurant! However, we decided to go in and we were very pleased we did. The host was excellent. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. 2 of us had the specials, which included an excellent Wild Boar dish. The other adult went a la carte and our son had the child’s menu. No one was disappointed. The restaurant never filled up, but there were 4 or 5 other tables of people sat outside with us to create enough atmosphere. Overall, a success.

Very nice restaurant with great food and service. The outdoor patio is very nice. The restaurant is at the bottom of the hill, close to Chateau Chalon.

We had a great lunch here with two vegetarian meals that were perfection! The cafe gourmand is also a must...
