"For vegetarians and meat eaters alike. This restaurant saved us when we drove into town hungry in late afternoon most restaurants were closed for a break. Vegetarian plate was ample. Henri IV chicken seemed to be much appreciated by my dad."

We stopped to have lunch at Le Pichet before heading over to the Cathedral. Although we had no reservation and a number of tables were occupied, the owner was able to quickly seat us. It was a pretty chilly day in Chartres, but the restaurant was nice and warm and oh so cute inside. Both meals we ordered were fantastic the vegetarian platter came with a slice of quiche, salad and a number of different kinds of cheeses with olives and fresh bread. I had the rabbit in plum sauce which was almost like a stew the meat was super tender and the vegetables used very fresh. We split a bottle of hard cider. What a charming place, stumbled across it after becomming jaded by the endless menus which were all the same and longing for something wholesome and tasty. Came at just the right time as this place soon fills up. The gentleman at the front of house is charming and fun the lady chef a delight, we had a great table under the stairs surrounded by books and a bike (our choice) the food is limited but it is absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. I had the poule au pot and my hubby the beef Bourgignon, both wonderful and so tasty, good wine good beer and really delicious dessert and coffe and a good price, what more could you ask for, a great memory to cherish before returning home.

This restaurant is a stone's throw from Chartres Cathedral. We had lunch there and received very good service from a server who spoke enough English for us to communicate our order using our limited French. I had a vegetable plate including quiche. This was some of the freshest food we had in France. My husband had the rabbit stew and would've preferred it with no bones, but he enjoyed the flavor.

The reviews on tripadvisoir were right, the boeuf borguignon is really good. Well seasoned, good quantity. We asked for extra bread and we weren't charged anyting : On the down side I wouldn't recommend the oignon soup, very bland and watery. Also the dessert, cafe gourmand seemed expensive for what we got. Micro slice of chocolate cake and appple cake some fruit,
