"A very warm welcome, easy to book, (online from England). We ordered the four-course menu, but with the extra "samplers" etc I counted nine (quite small) courses altogether and every one a treat! English language of staff was adequate. Michelin recommended."

Having visited all other Michelin starred restaurants within the region I was eagerly anticipating having dinner at Le Pily in order to complete the set. I must admit the first few courses of a 7 course menu were ok to very good if not spectacular. Battered fish balls followed by a decent carrot soup served with a plastic spoon did not have the wow factor in any kind of way and to be honest i could probably do as good at home but any disappointment of the early stages disappeared as we were served the most incredible turbut dish followed by the best chicken I have ever tasted tppped off by a wonderful tangy desert. At 160 euros for two including tip and drinks Le Pily is priced in line with comparable establishments. In summary whilst I wasnt impressed with every course, what they do well will impress you whilst other elements may leave you a little bemused. Almost a five star experience but not quite on a level of other * restaurants we have dined at.

We were slightly concerned by the fact that this establishment did not have many Tripadvisor reviews, however on entering the restaurant our concerns disappeared. We had an outstanding evening and chose the 4 course menu which included an number of additional courses. Given the quality of the food 4 courses was more than sufficient. The menu was also adapted for the gluten free member of our party.I would definitely recommend this establishment.P.S. They also provide a 1 hour lunch menu mid week

A great hidden treasure! Our cruise ship stopped in Cherbourg, and we had dinner at Le Pily, having booked via email about a month in advance. The entire meal was fabulous, and the price quite reasonable. Each course was remarkable, the staff friendly, and service exemplary. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Le Pily to friends.

Situated in a dirty side street of the centre. Interior modernist. Menu etc presented in avantgarde style. Food more design than delight. Agneau 18 hours raw like dog meat. On nearly all dishes crumbles of any kind. Michelin testers, how on earth can you award * to this Opus Dei of modernism ?
