To be as fair as possible, I will preface my scathing review with the fact that finding an edible meal in this area is quite challenging for me. I'm not a fan of traditional French cuisine and even less so of Catalan cuisine and I didn't have high hopes the day we stopped here for lunch on our way to Cadaques, Spain. We stopped soon after the Midi rush and were squeezed in to a tiny table for two with almost no room between tables to even get seated and NO, we aren't large people. We each ordered coffees that eventually came while we perused the menu. We weren't that hungry and would have preferred a light lunch of omelette, salad and frites which we were told was not available. A first for us. The waiter came back with his pad and said in English "speak now". My husband probably could have ordered something, but I couldn't find anything remotely edible that wasn't a large meal. We told the waiter we weren't that hungry and that we changed our minds. He got a bit testy and said "You have to eat". Maybe we're just stupid, but we didn't understand what he meant and he repeated that we had to eat. Maybe there was a sign or a mention on the menu that says they had a minimum table charge, but we're not proficient enough in French to pick up on it. At that point we decided we would just order two boules of ice cream each. To this he told us NO. When we looked bewildered he rudely told us again that we had to eat. We apologized profusely and said we didn't want to eat and he stomped off. He came back and practically threw the bill at us. We gave him €10 for our €7 coffees and told him to keep the €3 tip that was most likely the first he's ever received. We left slightly embarrassed and me mostly upset. Of course I didn't get his name, but the receipt said: server (cyr) I believe....We go to this area at least once per year and I can definitely say we won't stop here again. I can't say anything about the food because we didn't have any. The coffee was mediocre at best.
