Le Relais de La Poste

I am an American in France for 20 years, and my wife is French and was a restaurant owner for 7 years. We are not especially picky but this was a bad restaurant experience. The deco uninteresting, the service slow and inattentive. The food was worse than bad...it was boring! The shrimp salad had 3 large fresh shrimp which must have delicious before it was drowned in the tasteless vinaigrette and surrounded by the limp salad. The steak was tender and would have been wonderful if it had not been covered by a completely bland mushroom sauce that even the generous addition if salt and pepper did not help. The steak was accompanied by frozen vegetables and potato cakes that very resembled what I ate as a child in my school cafeteria. I had high hopes for the cheese plate, after all this IS France and it requires no cooking...but no. Three different cheeses refrigerator cold and all equally tasteless. All of this could be forgiven if we were paying the price of a cafeteria or a Flunch...but no: 40 € each without wine!Please do your taste buds and wallet a favor and if your are staying at this hotel and need to eat ... take a left out the door, walk one block and you will find a wonderful little Kebab restaurant.

We had the 18€ evening menu, the food was delicious and was excellent value for money. My lemon sole was delicious and the Pithivier Panaché was divine a real must have (when in Pithivier it would be rude to have any other dessert!)

We ate here on a busy wet August Bank Holiday lunchtime. We had tried to eat in the restaurant next door but they could not have been less interested. We received a warm welcome here and the food wasn't bad, even if not fantastic.

For an €18 3 course menu, can't complain, seafood salad and foie de veau were fine though not exceptional, tete de veau was good, but gribiche sauce a little bland. Good service, smart looking dining room

There were about 100 of us to be fed a three course meal with aperatifs one night, at the same time. And they managed it. And all the food was still hot. Very impressed.
