Having a house not far from Beaumes de Venise, we had already come to the Amerigo Vespucci. Seduced by a very pleasant terrace in the evening, by correct prices and relatively acceptable food without being exceptional , we decided to give another chance nd spend an evening there. Mistake: a real disaster. Extremely long waiting time, errors in the orders, overcooked food, poor service, no apologies … Just a terrible evening. Forget it , pass away. They are some better choices in Beaumes. If the bottle of wine arrived quickly and was of excellent quality, the order itself had to be claimed several times to the only person authorized to take it. Other guests have complained on this site about the service and the enormous time they had to wait for their food. I will not complain about that, although it took also quite some time in our case. Wine was only served upon repeated request (after entrees had arrived). The real problem, however, is the food. It is a disaster. I had the foie gras hamburger which came with a tiny peace of foie gras hidden between big, dry and cold buns. We spent over two hours at this restaurant after ordering the menu, a three course meal. We ordered red wine without a wine list, so we never knew what kind of wine we were served. The main course arrived luke warm. We never got to the dessert because it was very late and other tables before us were not cleared. We knew it would be another half hour before our order for dessert was taken. There was only one server for about 35 people. One other assistant brought dishes to the tables. We got recommended to visit this place for diner by family who regular the place, but got really dissapointed. The place is nice, the food is ok, but the service is horrible. The wine menu got taken away when we ordered our apperitive. During our meal we ordered a bottle of wine: after 30min they told us the bottle was not there any more we already finished our meal. It took another hour to get the dessert menu (after asking 2 times). Water was not given to us, and waitresses did not come and check the terras on a regular basis. Le service lors de notre visite ici était correct, mais c'est la qualité très médiocre de la cuisine qui était très décevante. L'ingrédient principal, comme le boeuf ou l'agneau, était bien cuit mais les légumes étaient presque froids et trop cuits. L'entrée de carpaccio de canard était fade, peut-être que le chef était à court d'assaisonnement ? Comme il y a plein de bons restaurants dans la région, celui-ci est à éviter.
We went for the 29 Euro set menu and did not regret it. Two of us had beef carpaccio ti start and 2 of us prawns. The helpings were large and food delicious. Main course was equally good with choice of duck or fish, and we all went for Creme brûlée which was delicious. Service was excellent and very friendly. Would definitely recommend.
