We frequently travel south on the A28 on our way further down France and the Cheval Blanc has become our stopover point of choice. The hotel is very nice. Rooms are good, the pool is a real bonus and the owners are always very welcoming. However, the real attraction is the fantastic restaurant, which is set just opposite the hotel. There is a lovely outside terrace. The food is excellent and worth a visit for a the food alone. Clearly the restaurant is also well thought of by the locals and is always busy with a mix of locals and people travelling through. As a family with young children we love this place and could not recommend it highly enough.
This was a great find. Recommended by friend of a friend we went as part of a table of 10.service was great from the moment we walked in and sat down. It took a while for some to work out the menu as it was extensive and all in French (no translation available)When the food arrived it was very well presented and the combination and balance of flavours was superb. Starter, main, cheese, desert, wine and coffee all for a very reasonable €40 a head.Well worth a visit.
Restaurant alongside the Auberge, chef is also patron and the quality of his cooking is top class. Went out of his way to provide an interesting vegetarian option for the vegetarian in our party. Staff are all friendly and knowledgeable. Total bill for 3 people 110 Euros, 5 course meal including superb cheese selection, 2 bottles decent wine and a good glass of Cognac.
Wife and I wanted to stay somewhere off the A28 and found this gem. Sat outside and had a well earned beer after tacking 3 hours of motorway driving. Great food, reasonably priced bearing in mind the quality. Wine prices also good value. Rooms very clean and well equipped with kettle, large bathroom and shower. 10/10
