Le Relais Louis XI - Restaurant

Nous aurions dû arriver à cet hôtel à 18 heures mais grâce à un long retard à l'eurotunnel, il était plus proche de 23 heures. Nous avions envoyé un e-mail à l'avance pour essayer de sauver notre réservation dans l'espoir ténu d'avoir un peu de nourriture. Bien que la cuisine ait fermé au moment de notre arrivée, le restaurant nous a préparé quelques assiettes froides qui étaient composées de délicieux fromages, de charcuteries, de salade et de petits pains chauds qui ont satisfait nos papilles. Les chambres de l'hôtel sont immenses, confortables et originales. Notre chambre offrait une vue magnifique sur la rivière que nous n'avons découverte qu'au matin. We stayed our last night in France in the Tower room, la Suite Royale. Though the heat in France was scorching, the breeze from the river made the room comfortableSometimes "charming decor" can mean it's a bit run down, but not here! The room has old world charm but modern comfort and cleanliness. The view of the river from the room was spectacular. The hosts were very friendly and tried hard help despite our language barriers. If we ever get the chance, we will stay here again!

As overnight guests we were looking forward to a superb meal in a beautiful setting. This was not to be. We were given a wine not ordered from the menu ,the young lady just shrugged when we tried in broken French to complain. The starters...More

Ideal location, superb view of river. We don't speak much French and it was great that the staff were so helpful with that. Everyone was so nice to us: reception, our waitress at dinner, AND The Chef!! Like Arnie, 'we will be back' !!!

Limited menu for the price. The staff were good and knowledgeable on wines. Lovely surroundings especially in good weather.
