Le Rouffillac - Réserver une table

Conveniently situated by the bridge at Rouffillac, this 'resto' is easy to find. We arrived early for lunch but the sizeable dining room was already packed, a very good sign indeed and we weren't disappointed! We ordered the 'menu de jour' consisting of four tasty courses for 14 euros, including a more-than-adequate Cahors wine: asparagus soup, then parma-like ham and paté salad and followed by a substantial main course of veal raised on the proprietor's farm and served with rice; the sweet of the day was 'ile flottante', decorated meringue floating on home-made 'crème anglaise' or custard if you prefer it spelt out. I arrived with my partner around 9.30 pm and we were made to feel pretty bad that we were eating late, the waitress/hostess saying that we could not have the bigger menu and so forth. We were also unlucky to have turned up on the first day of a waiter who seemed pretty lost. We couldn't hold it against him because we have all had our first days on a job but it was slightly awkward as he had no idea what he was doing. We didn't have much choice and opted for the 18€ menu (the are really only three ways of ordering in this restaurant : menu for children, smaller menu at 18€ and the larger one menu at 24 (?)- apparently the "à la carte" option had been made redundant a few weeks before). Perhaps we were expecting too much? But overall we were fairly satisfied with the restaurant. After all we had cold chocolate and Luke warm coffee before hand after our cycle ride from Sarlat. But we not allowed to eat outside ( in case it rained and there were a few dark clouds lurking) and initially were placed in a side room away from the locals.However,as long as you like duck in its many forms ,the menu was quite wide and the helpings were verging on the huge! Service could not be faulted and the costs were very reasonable. It certainly seemed very popular with the locals. And it's convenient with good parking on a busy road.

We had Sunday lunch. It was busy and the single waitress was at full stretch. The service was a bit slow, and one of the party of four had to wait for dessert until the others had finished theirs, but overall the service was acceptable. The food was hearty and tasty, the portions generous. 80 euros for four, including wines and beers.

we came at 18:45 and they told us that the kitchen will open at ~19:00, we got our first course at 20:00 and last at 22:00we stayed because we ordered a deal of 3 courses and hoped each time that the next course will be good, eventually we couldn't eat anythingmaybe these are good dishes for the local taste but definitely not for us.

No highchair which was a problem with our squirm 2 year old. Food was ok, nothing special. Saute potatoes were very nice, if not a bit greasy. Steak not very nice. Trout was too greasy. Omelette for kids was huge, dry and not very nice. All in all not a great experience.

Il est 10h, j'ai essayé de passer une commande à 9h50 et on m'a dit qu'ils étaient "trop occupés" pour prendre des commandes. Donc ma nouvelle femme et moi, qui sommes ici à Banff pour notre lune de miel, devons trouver un autre endroit où manger.

We visited with friends and found it to be very busy. Had the menu Du jour. They could perhaps do with more than 1 person serving. The food was very good and value for money.

Le serveur était super gentil. Il faut attendre un peu pour les entrées mais en attendant, vous pouvez profiter du buffet de salades.
