On our last visit to Ouistreham we had a disastrous meal near the port. This time we hoped for better. After looking at menus of a number of restaurants we chose Le Roulis. I think because it had a choice of set menus, and also was very busy. Chalk-board menus, rightly or wrongly, lead me to believe that they are regularly changed. We chose a set menu of four courses for 27 euros. We had “house wine”, described as IGP. Without describing in detail every course, we felt that the restaurant attended to detail - the chips for instance, tasted just a bit beyond ordinary French fries. My steak was cooked to my slightly pedantic request. The dessert described as “mélodie autour d'une pomme” deserves description - there was a madeleine, apple sorbet, open tart on a galette or crêpe, and a tiny glass of Calvados. Service was prompt and friendly. We might have been lucky, I suppose, but the attention to detail on all courses suggested that the establishment had pride in what it was doing. We will certainly return when we next find ourselves staying the night for a next day ferry.

As most people in the town of an evening, we were catching a ferry the following morning, and had been here before a few years ago.It was as good as ever, in fact the cheapest set meal was excellent value - so more to spend on wine! A great choice available.A lovely end to our holiday - this place should be higher up the list, looking at the number of people who were seated, probably not many people taking the time to give feedback. We'll defo be back!!

We like coming to this restaurant, the service is friendly and the food is very good, a French recommended it us last year and we thought is it's good enough for the locals it should be good enough for us and it is.We tend to go for the 27€ menu, the fish is always perfectly cooked and the deserts are great (chocolate fondant yummy). We tend to eat quite early, if you want to eat around 8-9 o'clock it's probably wise to book.

We always eat in ouistreham before catching late ferry. Tried loads of places. On balance this was probably the best for simple authentic but good food. Varied menu service quite good and nice ambiance. Ok most diners are going to catch ferry so few if any locals but who cares if they provide good food at reasonable prices in a nice environment. So yes give them a try you will not regret it. Bon appetite .
