"Great food in a fascinating setting! This is a very old building with thick stone walls as if it were part of a castle or the city walls at some stage. The food is amazing and prices are in line with other similar restaurants and dining there is a rewarding experience. Well worth a visit!"

We discovered the restaurant by chance walking around in the old town after we found that many restaurants (our initial choices) were closed on Monday evening in Bergerac. What a nice surprise! The kitchen was inventive and the quality of the food and wine was very good. The service was good too and we were "déçu en bien".My husband ate a la carte first a type of carpaccio of beef and then the foie gras. I had the menue that comprised a perigord salad with finely grated foie gras, confit of duck and dried magret of duck which was very nice, followed by the sturgeon, which was perfectly cooked and then a strawberry desert. This restaurant is situated close to the church with the beautiful organ on an old street corner in Bergerac. The service was very attentive. We saw they do not offer a tapas menu (since it was too hot for a full meal), but the owner offered to make us some and it was delicious! There was duck puff pastry (my favourite), salmon in a sweet sauce, oysters, avocado/tuna bites, foie gras with a crispy salty biscuit (perfect texture combination), and I don't even remember all the other bites. We thus had a bite of almost all the food they offer here, and I can sincerely tell you that I would eat a full meal of any of the above.

The service was good and friendly, all set in a lovely partly covered inner courtyard. Starters and dessert were good, unfortunately our main course, especially mine, the meat was difficult to cut so I asked for a better knife - no problem. It wasn't the knife but the beef - virtually inedible. This was quickly changed for a different dish and the meat melted in the mouth. This episode wouldn't stop me from going back, quiet the opposite, they showed they cared - well done.

We visited for lunch on the back of Martin walkers recommendation on his Bruno web site. The place was busy and the service good. We opted for a Mix of a l carte and menu. The food was interesting and variable some was very good but others were tasty but looked odd and others just odd. The wine choices were good and fairly priced. I'm not sure I would rush back but for an Interesting lunch in a nice spot with good service it's worth calling in.
